I was thinking as soon as I saw that it rang a bell. When I was a young teenager we had a sewing machine of sorts on the farm where I stayed. We young people would be given a huge pile of straw and a cop of thin string to put in the machine and we made miles of stuff like that to thatch the hay and straw ricks. Much easier than proper thatching :-) Does that help at all?
The blind for my daughters room, that needed a trim. :)
