Stalwarts by daffodill

Stalwarts

On Sunday afternoon we often go exploring. The recent weather ruled out many places, so we opted for the city. Starting off at my daughters favourite building The Mailbox.
We have discovered a car park close by that does reasonable parking on a Sunday. Finding the car park took up through 2 tunnels on the ring road..and back again....
After visiting the BBC Studios to allowing my daughter to record the news http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/birmingham/hi/tv_and_radio/newsid_8665000/8665413.stm?plid=0708185853 and weather http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/birmingham/hi/tv_and_radio/newsid_8665000/8665413.stm?plid=0708185867, for Eve to sing Twinkle Twinkle with the newsreel as backing and for us to check the score in the men's final at Wimbledon (1 set all)... we moved on to revisit The Cube http://365project.org/daffodill/365/2011-01-16 - a building that fascinated me!
We then had coffee at the Costa at The Ramada hotel, where Eve was very generous with her distribution of Chocolate Muffin. One cake in the hands of a child sure can go along way. We also checked the score....

With dramatic storm clouds over Birmingham and no coats, we opted to go and check out the tense moments of the tennis on the big screen in Victoria Square, where the thrills and spills were watched over by keen tennis fans, and curious onlookers, Queen Victoria and 'The Floozie in the Jacuzzi'.
Then the heavens opened..... and we retreated to shelter under the canopy of council house, tho my daughter preferred the canopy provided by four hanging baskets...
We waited until the rain stopped and decided that we had had the best of the day, left Federer and Murray to the faithful few.
Very diligent level of activity for a wet Sunday afternoon. I imagine most people had found a nice pub with a telly for Wimbledon thrills and spills.
