Inside my soul
are berries like these
fruit of rejection
and pain.
One formed
each time the words
said
"Anyone can join
as long as it's not you!"
All are welcome
do join in
as long as you fit
are what I want you to be.
A child does have feelings
A child doesn't feel pain.
They just hide it all inside them again
for a while they become louder,
looking for acceptance.
Then they go quieter
and voice only the mundane
and quietly die
in the face of
unending joy
which has no meaning.
