Shake It! by daffodill

Shake It!

Very blustery day this morning.
I hope this shot conveys a sense of movement,
as this silver birch was waving frantically in the very blustery wind.
Any blurring is purely down to the amount of movement in the tree - not camera shake!

Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the worst storm to hit the South West since 1703, and at the time, weatherman Michael Fish told us all not to worry there was no hurricane on it's way.
The weather however did not play ball, and while the South West did not actually experience a hurricane the storm was very damaging with an estimated 15 million trees felled. The national grid estimated that it lost more lines that night than in the preceding 10 years!
You've certainly captured the movement - love the sun just peeping over the roof tops!

Quite breezy then!! I watched a documentary about the storm which included a piece about a woman in labour trying to get help - I was grinding my teeth it was so stressful to watch!! Very windy in Cambridge that night but as we were students we slept through!
