Chrysalis by danette

Chrysalis

I certainly took better quality photos today, but had to share this one. Considering the number of caterpillars we get in the yard, I hardly ever see a Chrysalis. I think the ones the Monarch makes is so gorgeous. I think you can even see the face of the butterfly at the bottom. I had to climb a ladder and hold onto the fascia to get this shot!
Very cool shot, Danette! What an interesting shade of green it is!

@marlboromaam I wish I could have gotten a better view. The yellowish dots are the color of gold. The intricacies of the top are most amazing. The Monarch has one of the most beautiful cocoons, in my opinion.

I had no idea that's what a cocoon looks like. Very neat!

@ariel817 Hidden treasures among us!

@dreams thanks. Yes, the colors are even better in person. Yet when I looked for it this morning, it somehow blended in with the surroundings.

Wow, he really traveled to make his chrysalis! I love them.

@purdey I'm glad you enjoyed it! I find it fascinating.

@anden Well, it would technically be the "death" of a caterpiller and the "birth" of a butterfly! A very interesting life cycle.

@lynnb He did! How is it that I never find them crawling to their destination?
