It was a Monday! I didn't even want to bring my camera when I went out, but I did. I looked to the sky, which was beautiful. I stopped at the doctor and a little voice nudged me to take the camera with me. I noticed a few ducks appearing to stand guard. Then I noticed the duck on her nest. Looked like she was sitting on eggs and I noticed a few broken eggs. Since these ducks are not well liked, I thought either a vandal or preditor got to them. I was surprised she let me approach her from a few feet away. I then noticed, she was sitting on about a dozen little chicks! First one popped out, then the rest. She moved the eggs around a bit. I didn't want to annoy her for too long. Few of the chicks will grow into adulthood. They wander around the streets and get hit or...just the normal attrition. I don't like these ducks, but the chicks are cute!
@clmiller@daisy@pjonas They must be just a few days old. I have seen some hoers swimming off a busy road in a puddle. I was glad to find these. I'm sure the people coming and going thought I was nuts. I was quite surprised that nne of the adult ducks chased me off.
@ariel817 Today will be better. I got two offers in on a listing! :-) @marlboromaam Thank you, Maggie! @lynnb Lynn, thanks for mentioning the type of duck. I probably should have! I didn't realize they cared for more than their own, but that would make a lot of sense and explain the "sentry guards'!. @purdey Sharon, they were so cute and small. I couldn't believe they were all underneath ner. @dreams Thank you so much, Karen!
