Sunny Isles Beach by danette

Sunny Isles Beach

I had to go to Miami Beach early this morning. I thought for sure I could get to the beach for a photo...but NO! There were huge buildings lined up like soldiers all along the sand. I drove up and down Collins Ave. until I knew I had to leave. I grabbed a bite to eat. Since it is nearly impossible to make a u-turn, I drove through the neighborhood and found this temple. The roof caught my eye because of the colors. I'm sure they aren't much appreciating this old roof, but it was interesting for me.
Good eye...I like the lines and textures!

@lynnb Thanks, Lynn. It just didn't match the newness of the rest of the area. I'm sure they were wondering why I was sitting in their parking lot!

Imagine come all to Miami Beach and take a picture of a roof... you are sooo funny. Where in South Florida do you live? I live in Coral Gables. The roof and textures of it are very nice.

Interesting, it almost looks scraped. Did Santa have a few rough landings there or something?

@anazad511 I find Miami Beach the most difficult place to navigate and park! Argh!! I haven't been to Sunny Isles in many years. I just didn't have the time to try to find parking and I was satisfied with the roof. It's been an overwhelmingly busy week. I definitely now appreciate he ease of Broward's beaches now! I live in Coral Springs.

@ariel817 I'm thinking it was a tree. Probably Santa didn't go to the Temple! :-)

@danette - I agree with you. I very rarely go to MB since it's so difficult to park. I just googled it and between our two Corals there are 47 miles. I went to SawGrass a couple of days ago. We should plan one meeting to go and take shots.

Ooooh as in a synagogue type temple? LOL, well, I'd say yeah, but then again, Santa came to our house for some reason that I never have quite figured out (but the Easter bunny never hopped by, it was very selective Christian holiday sampling!) :)

@anazad511 Last time I went to South Beach I got a parking ticket for no reason. Sawgrass is 20 or so minutes away. There are some nice areas around there, such as I-75 west before Alligator Alley.

@ariel817 Hahaha, Linda! I know Santa will go to many homes. The Temples on MB are pretty conservative! I hear there are strings set out so they can properly observe the Sabbath but i have not seen them.

Beautiful color and texture!

Wonderful shot! Great lines and tones of color! I've never been to Miami. Never had a desire and after reading your description, I don't think I ever will. I hate traffic and have no patience for it in my old age.

That's a great roof. was the whole building like that? You may not know it... but I just LOVE dilapidated buildings!!

@clmiller Thank you, Caren!

@marlboromaam Maggie, thank you so much! MB isn't all bad. I think you have to go and stay in a hotel and be able to walk. In South Beach, they use a lot of scooters to get around and parking is easier. I am just used to being in an area where it is easier to get around. I didn't have the time, nor the familiarity to find what I was looking for. They do have beautiful beaches there. It's an interesting world there, too. Much different than mine. When I went to South Beach one day and stopped to take photos on the beach, within 20 minutes I saw a hooker, a Lambergini and topless women on the beach.

@pjonas Patty, the building is probably circa 1970's. The base of the Temple was stone. Overall, the property looked in decent shape, but roofs are costly. I imagine they are trying to stretch the life of this one. I think dilapidated buildings are cool, too. We don't have many of the eye-pleasing variety around here, such as barns. I love old barns when I travel.
