First time seeing one in person!
I’ve never even heard of these, but it’s an awesome looking bird.

@shepherdmanswife they are about the size of a vulture. They mostly eat dead carcasses and will chase off other birds. They sometimes eat live pray, but they are not like the hawk.

@rickster549 no, he was over near Naples. Their territory is “Florida”, but I’ve not seen one in SE Florida. Maybe we are too crowded here.

It's quite a look, that caracara is showing! I have only seen them in Brazil, but they make quite a statement walking along the ground, so big.
