Without hope, where would we be? No matter where your hope comes from, it is important. Hope gives us the desire to go on, the desire or the willingness to give life one more chance. I have been around those who claim they have lost all hope, and their lives were full of emotional pain. When you looked into their eyes, it was like looking into a black hole. There was no sparkle in their eyes, they were literally living each day in a void. In most cases, something happened in their lives to give them a spark of Hope, and that seemed to be their turning point. During the past couple of weeks, some of my co-workers have experienced some personal tragedies. One 40 year old Wife and Mother of two young girls was killed tragically in a car accident. Less than a week later, another co-worker lost her Son due to an untimely death the very same day he returned to college following his holiday vacation at home. He was 22 years old, and he was to graduate in May. How are these families coping? Where will they find the desire, the "Hope" do go on? It must come from somewhere. Personally, my Wife and I have learned the value of Hope. To us, Hope is what brought us through some extremely difficult times. Hope was critical. For us, our Hope is in the one who we have found to be faithful. Each of you have your own source of Hope. Psalms 71 is a great chapter to read, and especially verse 5.
Great verse and love the picture! I know hope is what gets me through the challenging times in my life and am grateful to have hope in much more than this world has to offer!
You told very sad and heavy stories of your co-workers but your writing about hope was comforting. My son-in-law died for a cancer six years ago, when my daughters and his children were four and eight. When people were asking from my daughter how does she manage, her answer was: "Do I have any choice, I have to manage for children".
I believe that her thought was hope of children`s managing in their life and she was an most important part of it now .
Thank you for your post!
Rick, you captured it beautifully. My heart goes out to your co-workers. The losses that they have suffered are great. Time will heal but it takes time to even get there. Last year had many challenges for us and we have made it through with home. Thank you for your photo.
How I hope these family's manage to come to terms with their loss ,Thankyou Rick for all your comments sorry so busy to make many comments at the moment out having fun with our grand children
It is a beautiful and consoling and strengthening psalm. In Hebrew, like all this book is a great poetry. Holding on hope is what keep us going and enjoying and overcoming hard times.
again, i'm not much for scripture, but you've done a fantastic job of portraying a normally visually dull subject (text in a book, no insult to the bible intended) and adding quite a bit of drama. very well done.
nice entry, rick....

There seems to be so much tragedy lately and it's so hard to deal with sometimes.
