Well. it all went well according to the surgeon. Arrived there at about 2:00pm, surgery was scheduled for 3:30pm. Went in for all the prep work, one nurse stuck me twice couldn't find my veins, then another one started my IV in my thumb. Worked well, thank goodness. Went into the OR about 3:45pm, chatted with the doctor a bit and next thing I know it's 5:50pm, waking up, floating in and out of la la land. Couldn't wait for my coke and crackers. Had some more Fentanyl, then a half hour later 2 Vicodin, feeling real good. Got home, had a York candy, and a cup of coffee. Set to go! All went well, and the surgeon feels everything will work quite well. No problems with my heart this time. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Let the healing begin.
Now here is a dedicated photographer!! Even loopy with drugs and encumbered by a bandage, you got off several great shots. I don't want to hear any whining from anyone in the audience from now on! You all have a tough act to follow.
Just dropping in to see how things went. Are you allowed to lift that coffee cup? I had carpel tunnel surgery several years ago and was told not to do anything for a week or two, so I took advantage!
Good thing the shutter release is on the right side today, eh? Really glad all went well! Let the healing begin indeed! May your path back to health be straight!!
[My wife says I'm most hilarious coming out of anesthesia. Says I ask what time it is every 60 seconds! Perhaps it's the sense of lost time you referred to: "next thing I know it's 5:50pm."]
I'm so glad it went well. Now we will pray it heals soon.
I have to say, you are quite dedicated to take such good pictures and make a collage today. A good collage too.
That is quite a bandage! I am glad to hear that everything went to plan, and I hope that you make a quick and full recovery of your range of motion. Take care!
so glad it went well!! hoping that you are in minimal pain, and that everything heals exactly as it should! thanks for sharing the photos--it looks pretty uncomfortable and unwieldy!
You are a rock star in the 365 world! I can not believe you posted today. Perfect collage to capture your day! I'm so glad to hear all went well. I've never heard of a thumb IV. Good to know.
You probably asked the doc if it was okay to bring your camera into the OR. Didn't you? Come on, now, fess up. ;) I'm very glad to hear the surgery went as intended and hope your hand heals nicely and works better than ever once it's all said and done. Thanks for the update!
Aww, they pumped you full of stuff, didn't they? I'm happy to read it all went well. York peppermint patties and coffee will make it all better (: You're a trooper
Yikes.... i am scared of needles...and something like that happening would make me scream and run out.... You did well, and hope you get well fast, rick....
@clarissajohal Oh yes, I had some Fentanyl befor going in, and some afterwards, besides what they gave me to go under (that worked very fast) and then a few Vicodin. Was feeling pretty good, must say so myself. This morning I needed the Vicodin. The strong stuff wore off. Yikes.
Wow - looks like using your hand is going to be tough for awhile. Take good care of you - I didn't think you'd be able to handle your camera - was this with your tri-pod? Good shots!
I'm glad to hear your surgery went well Rick.....must be a relief to have it over! Now kick back, relax and hopefully you'll be on the mend soon! I'm impressed you were still able to put together this awesome collage!
so happy that it went well for you! I know of one person who had that surgery, and it worked really well for her! So, just relax, prop your feet up and heal a bit :-)
And you didn't miss a beat! And what's my excuse for not looking at pictures for three days?? Great collage and I'm so glad it went well!! And I'm glad you won't be feeling that awful pain in the future.
Impressive..all I had was the flu and couldn't muster the strength to shoot anything....you had surgery and still did. Talk about dedication. Hope your feeling better hun and the pain meds are nice and strong :)
Good to hear that your surgery went well! Your hand looks very swollen, do hope you are doing well :) thinking of you!
Just catching up.
