Take That Pappy

Another photo from the archives. This is my Sister and I with Pappy, my Mother's Dad. I love this photo because it demonstrates the love, and fun my Grandfather had with us. My Mother always told us that he was a joker. On May 5, 1963 Pappy passed away. He was 62, and I was 8 years old. I never really had the opportunity to get to know him, though I do have some happy memories of him crawling around the floor, chasing me on his hands and knees. I'm sure we would have gotten along quite well.

What a memorable picture this must be, Rick. I never knew my grandfathers, they both died very young.

Your story is so similar to mine- both my grandfathers died while I was still young but I have great memories of both of them- though not a lot of them. This is a great photo with the interaction between you and your pappy!

Great photograph to treasure! Thank you for the story behind it.

This is a treasure, Rick. I lost one grandpa when I was 4 months old, but my other grandpa lived to see me become a dad. And with my dad's recent passing, neither of my parents lived to see great-grandchildren. With kids getting married later these days, I suspect great-grandparent/grandchild relationships are getting rarer. Wonderful post, Rick. As I wrote: a treasure for your family to have...

Family pictures really mean so much to us. It is our proof that we are connected to family.

Wonderful picture. Love your sister's formal pose, while you show the natural behavior of a toddler.
