Sell photographs... HELP!

July 9th, 2010
Hi everybody, some people asked me to buy some of my photographs...
is the first time and I don't know how to behave, whether to sell the file with copyright or the print.
And what about the price? Can someone give me advise?

Have a good day! =)

sell the print, not the copyright. Look at prices in your area, an 8x10 shouldn't be less than $25.
No need to charge tax, unless you have a business license.

if you are looking for a website to set up an online store check out www.photoreflect.com
It's a free website, you only have to pay if someone buys something.

Here's mine www.lifethroughphotography.photoreflect.com
click on portfolio to view my artistic photos for sale

Hope that helps a little!

I would agree with Nicole about selling the print... however in my case with wedding and portrait photography, I would have to sell part of the copyright for the client's developing purposes... but if its just someone admiring a shot you have taken then selling the print sounds best.

Sell the print with exclusivity of the print and nothing but the print. It may not be duplicated without authorization in any way shape or form.

There are documents you can find or write up if you wish to help protect your work. And $25.00 a pop is a spiffy price ... especially for someone who's asking.

Good luck ... !!!

my photographs have not always a regular size, how can I print them exactly like those people want? =(
Anyway, I decided, I will sell the print... tnx everybody!

If your print is something like 8x16 for example, you would just print an 11x16 and cut down. That is really the only way you can print an odd size image unless you go to a small print shop locally that will run any size you want.
