I liked a couple of those...most of them are just too much I feel like. I have seen some awesome HDR photos before...but I don't think HDR is for every type of photo
I want to say, it depends, but most HDR images I do not like. They do not seem to have a sense of reality. Although, my Sony Alpha has HDR in camera and most those shots are OK. I do not use HDR very much, I might expierment with once in a while.
To me it's like stepping into a fantasy land... all inspiring when I first saw them. Grown to accept them for what they are "a fad." Still have to try it out someday.
@tammeray I agree with what you said, Tammeray. It is all personal taste. It is another art form and it's nice to see a variety of creativity and art in photography.
99% of HDR is badly, badly done. Including (yes, I'm going to say this and probably get kicked off 365 for doing so) much of what lands on the PP. That's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it.
HDR originally was a term used to combine multiple images of the same scene taken with different exposures. The object was to increase detail in the underexposed and overexposed areas by using the best exposure from each image. Now this exaggerated cartoonish stuff has become popular, and the original usage has been all but forgotten. Too bad. There is plenty of room in our art for artistic manipulation, but I've seen enough of this and wish it would just go away.
Hmmm didn't like most of them as too overdone but I liked the eye!!
I'm not really a fan of HDR as it is usually overdone but if processed properly it can bring out the detail perfectly in some shots!
@sjoblues why would you get kicked off 365 for giving your opinion? Besides 365 is not a competition, its not good photography versus bad, its the fun of taking daily photos, learning from fellow posters and striking up friendships. Photos only get on the PP due to their view/comment/fav ratio or whatever not because they are the best photos (even though they are mostly very good).
I guess I like HDR when i don't see its HDR, such as when used to bring out detail like in the eyeshot. I wouldn't say 99% is badly done, rather 99% is not to my liking.
I think they are fabulous and so well done! It's like a trip into a fantasy world. While it is not suitable for all subjects, and can get stale when over used, I thought those photos were amazing.
A few good, a few bad, mostly indifferent. The selectively coloured eye pushes all my buttons, it pretty much encapsulates everything I loathe about digital photography.
Some of them were OK, but like other people have said HDR is not right for every type of shot, that one of the (Golden Gate?) bridge is truely awful though.

Some of those are ok, but sadly not the majority! HDR can be good if done well.

Brilliant!
