A step beyond the water drop

I stumbled upon the work of Fabian Oefner today and thought it was pretty cool. A step beyond the water drop, he captures paint as it spun through the air by centripetal force.

Very cool, but that's one I won't be trying at home!

Very cool. Wondering how it could be tried at home without making a gigantic mess.

They look fantastic - not sure that my hubby would be impressed with me making a mess of his drill not to mention the rest of the room.
Would love to be able to simplify the effort and reduce the mess.

Ha! No reason you can't catch anything in motion.

@sewsharyn I'm wondering if you could get a big plastic 32 gallon trash can and have the drill spin inside that. It would catch the paint.

oh now that is cool ~ thanks for sharing ... maybe If my flat was bigger and not carpeted :-)

@lkread It would definately catch the paint - not sure how it would work with lighting the paint up enough to capture it on camera.

Wow - these look like structures, which I suppose they are if only fleetingly!
thanks for posting!

@sewsharyn lol yeah, not sure I'd be allowed either! Seriously, a studio for mess making is needed haha.

Could it be done inside a large cardboard box? And how about a food mixer ?
