I'm a MAC, I use a laptop and would love to purchase an external drive for my photos, I saw one but can't remember name or brand. It was specifically for photos and you could browse through as well. Any suggestions would be great.
Are you talking about a normal external HDD, like a lacie or western digital or buffalo 1TB etc?
OR are you referring to a digital media viewer that acts as a hard drive and has a screen with buttons on it to view the files that are on there?
I have no idea, maybe w a moniter to browse. I really have no idea what's best. I have a western digital that I hook up and back up but that's for my entire laptop think I would enjoy something I could actually see. What are your thoughts?
i have a 1TB hard drive and it great for keeping photos on mine was one i got from PC world. do the job well worth it, i got thousands on and there room for much more. just be care full not to drop it, i did that with last one and lost every thing. but had this one for about 2 years and still great
I just bought a Western Digital My Passport for Mac. I bought from the on-line Apple store. 1TB and it's so small. I bought for photos, too. Compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. Nothing to install.
I run an I Mac with a My Book Western Digital Back up drive which backs up everything. I too am looking out for a separate external drive which I can connect to my Mac for storing all of my Photos on. This in turn will be backed up on the My Book Western Digital Drive. My biggest fear is losing photos as lost loads on my old P.C a while back as I didn't have them backed up anywhere.
I use a double backup system. I load photos to a desktop windows computer then immediately back them up to an external iomega hard drive. At that point I delete the photos from the sd card. About once a week I make a second backup on an external hard drive that I keep at an off-site location. It is an amazing hard drive (works for mac too) that is resistant to dropping, crushing, immersion, chemicals, etc. but is more expensive than most hard drives. If you are serious about backup, this is your drive. http://iosafe.com/products-rugged-portable-features
whatever you get make sure to back up and then backup again off site such as an online backup service or take a drive to another location. Its not if but when a drive will fail. Not to mention fire, water damage, theft etc so always keep another backup off site.
