I just found this cool piece of software called The Photographer's Ephemeris. Basically, you click on a location (it uses Google Maps) and it will give you the sun/moon rise/set and twilight times for that point. It also draws lines from your selected location along the plane where the sun/moon will rise/set so you can plan where you need to set up the camera in order to get the sun or moon in the right place. It also has a heap of other functions like shadow length over the course of the day, auto time zone detection and elevation above sea-level.
There's a free desktop version (uses Adobe Air) and a paid iPhone app.
Oh, I wish I had this a long time ago! Thank you so much! I've had some of those places where I've just had trouble getting it right. This is so helpful. :)
