Great stuff and good use of your lunchbreaks! It's funny how the 80s look more like the 50s nowadays! @andycoleborn Andy, I'm down next week. Not sure when but will try and get to that exhibition and maybe catch up with you too. If you're not too busy with any forthcoming event!
Thank you for posting this, Cherrill! I learned alot from looking at the photos in the exhibit and it makes me feel like taking a few more risks with photos. For example, I would never cut off a person's head or post a blurry photo, and yet they work really well in the hands of a master. Andy C - I enjoyed the exhibit you posted too. I well remember that iconic Afghan girl gracing the cover of National Geographic, I believe. Thank you for adding a bit of art to my morning coffee break!
Did you guys read the comments in response to these photos?
I scrolled through the photos, and thought the first one (of the elderly lady in the car with the window's reflection on her face) was incredible - the best one. Some of the others also stood out as great photos, while the rest were okay.
But the comments, my goodness, they were so scathing!
And I wasn't sure why - was it because they were being featured in such a high-profile place without being absolutely spectacular? Or because they were actually crap? What do you think?
@pocketmouse I wasn't impressed actually... but I think a lot of art is spin... if you can convince others with a lot of pretencious (is that spelt right?) nonsense then they buy into it... Emporer's new clothes and all that??/

:-) You beat me to it Cherrill...
Also of interest might be a FREE exhibition of Steve McCurry's work (He of famed Afgan girl shot) in London between 7 - 24 Sept. http://www.chrisbeetlesfinephotographs.com/exhibitions/steve-mccurry.html
and sometimes during the 'unofficial' tea breaks :-)
