Critique please C:

Basically I have no idea whatsoever on how to take photos - all ten I uploaded are the first things I've basically ever photographed aside from drunken photos with friends! Would be nice to get a little critique and guidance as to how to make my photos better C: Thank you in advance!

I think with photography, if you follow your heart to where you want to be, look at your surroundings and go by the rule of thirds, you are pretty much going to capture a well composed photo. Think outside the square and that is all I can really offer advice for. I am not a professional photographer either and you really only learn from experience, so keep on taking photos and try not to seek too much approval from everyone else. If YOU like the photos you take, that is all that matters.
Nice shot of the sign post as well. I think this was well composed and tells a story.

Hi Danielle, and welcome to the project! I'm new to doing this project and to taking pictures as well, so while I don't have any professional insight I can tell you from a beginner's view what I've found to make this project both helpful and fun. First of all, I completely agree with what Kathryn said. Something that really helped me though was beginning to learn my camera better- I read up on the settings, and many times I take the same photo with several different settings to see how they differ. Also, I've been trying to challenge myself to take pictures both indoors and outdoors, in different kinds of lights, etc to learn my camera's capabilities- and most importantly to be able to take them to the next level when I get a real camera. But learning my camera really helped me- it was a pain at first but as I'm getting better on it I'm able to take photos better so that they are processed much more quickly- and I've been having a blast at the same time! Oh, one more thing- I purchased the premier Picnik - I think it's really ideal for doing beginning touch-ups, an easy intro into the world of editing. I like your body of work so far- good luck with it!

Thank you very much for the helpful advice guys! I'm still getting to learn my camera functions so I'm going to play about with composition and my camera settings more for the next few days (:
