Hi Cupcake,

I think you've captured these trees at a very interesting time since there is still just enough green in the leaves to give us a bit of color contrast. Showing that green as you've done works very well. I also like the lines created by the trunks and branches. Your placement of them towards the left side of the photo while allowing the branches to lead our eyes from left to right makes a very nice composition. That was very well done.

Here are some things to think about or try if you get the opportunity at this spot, or another like it.

Is there something interesting in front of these trees that you could use to add depth to the image? If so, try using the beautiful color of these trees as a background for an interesting foreground object.

Does sunlight ever stream through those leaves or does the sun ever backlight them? If so, that could make an interesting photo as well!

Do you post-process your photos or do you post them SOOC? If you do edit them, try increasing the contrast just a bit. I'd be interested in seeing the leaves just a bit brighter against the dark tones in the bark and the deep green of the yet-to-turn leaves.

nice subject matter but not much interest in the top of the trees whereas a shot showing the edge of the bottom branches and perhaps a view even lower and into the distance might add interest - the shot lack dimension right now - agree that you have done well placing the tree trunk to the left downlight a free editing programme like picassa and see what tiny adjustments can do to make you photo much punchier - have fun :o)

I'd play with color and sharpening. Get the color up and then sharpen to bring out the individual leaves and the beauty of the color tones. I might even pull in a nice blue sky from another shot and mask out the paler blue sky with my new, darker blue sky. Play...have fun...make some composites and see if you can bring some life into it! :) As @gozoinklings said, HAVE FUN...play in LR, PS or Aperture.

For me, the colour looks a bit "flat". It needs some contrast and a boost to the colour. It's not helped by the grey sky, but more definition and colour will help to distract from that. I personally prefer detail to wide shots, and, for me, there's too much on show here. There's not much going on over to the right, so maybe turn it from landscape to portrait and crop all of the right half out - maybe a bit off the top, too. Try a few different versions, I'm sure you'll get one that you prefer
