selections

Ok, so how can I make that line better? Not so much straighten or s-curve, I would love a soft s-curve, but how to best make the mask line in processing.

and anything else you have to say about this shot.

In Photoshop? Use the pen tool to place points for the path/selection and on each point is a "handle" you can manipulate to create curved path. Hope that helps.

@icamera hmmm not sure I have a pen tool in elements. I will look for that. Thanks

Yes sorry, I don't use Elements but last I heard the pen tool is not in Elements, only in full version Photoshop. There is probably a way to get to do this in Element though, perhaps someone with Elements will be able to chime in.

ok... try this... i am assuming you have two layers and know how to use masks... put a mask on one of the layers and use a large, soft round brush to carve out the part of the image you want visible... you'd want to do it in a big sweeping movement and it might take a few tries, but i think that might get what you are looking for if i am understanding what that is correctly :)

@tigerdreamer on PS, it's the polygonal lasso tool i was thinking about... looks like it's available in PSE... it will get you a straight line from points you define... http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/making-selections.html#use_the_polygonal_lasso_tool

@northy ha ha ha I tried that one and somehow it was putting points everywhere ad then it wouldn't stop.
I'll check out the video
Thanks

were you using the magnetic lasso tool or the polygonal lasso tool? magnetic does what you're saying and can be crazy making... polygonal only puts points down when you click....
