I really like your rainbow picture but that dog of yours is awesome, too ;). I started editing with Picasa, which is free (you can search it via google and download it) and very easy to use, then went on to Picnik, which cannot be downloaded but is free to use online and has a few more features. If you want to spend some money, you get more options in Picnik and if you want to spend loads of money there's always photoshop. For tiltshifting I can recommend tiltshiftmaker.com and lots of people on here use Gimp, but with that I have no experience. Hope that helps ;).
I like the paperweight shot from July 4th and your rainbow shot the best. I have an old Photoshop that I use. However, I am using the free versions of Picasa and Picnik more and more. To improve, I try to take lots of pictures and self critique myself. I also participate in some of the themes to improve my photography.
I really liked your Wondering the City shot. Great colors and subject. Just keep taking lots and lots of photos. Every once in awhile you'll come across a gem. I use Photoshop Elements... A "lite" version of Photoshop. Also, you can download a 30 day free trial of Topaz Adjust... A plug-in for Photoshop.
Of course everone likes onother photo best :-) I like 'The Road Upward' because of the light mysterious atmosphere. Remember your subject does not always be in the middle of your picture. Sometims it's better for contrast or composition to move your camera a little.
