My Niece had her senior portraits done and she was not happy with most of them. Wanted to find out what all of you think of her portraits. Does the price of $499 fit the quality? (I only saw maybe two that I thought were good)
@relicsong I saw quite a few I like. The only ones I wasn't a fan of were the ones with lots of space around your niece - the senior portrait is supposed to focus on the senior, not on the landscape around her. I was all, "why is she so LITTLE in this pic?". :)
I just went to look and it wouldn't accept the password. I think the photographer may be a member of 365 or know you have posted this thread. Sorry to hear your niece is unhappy when she has spent so much money.
Tried and couldn't either! As someone who took them and then found them on another photographer's site I was quite curious to see what she didn't like ... sorry!
Well, here's my five hundred dollar's worth. I make a habit to support other photographer's prices because it's not cheap to properly, legally run a photography business. $499? I don't know.
As for the quality, I felt the quality was fairly good. I wasn't feeling the location where the photos were shot, though. I mean...a field? I feel like these were glamour shots of hte farmer's daughter. The photos looked well exposed, sharp focus, good colors though.
@jasonbarnette This was my other "huh?" with the shots - it felt kind of odd to have her standing in the middle of a field looking like she was on her way to the club. :)
@beautifulthing - Unless that's what she *wanted*, of course. But I mean...there are many more aesthetically pleasing locations than a field.
@nicolekos - I"m pretty sure the password has been changed at this point. Technically, Beth wasn't supposed to share that password with all of us. These proofs are for the client only. So I'm hoping she won't get into much trouble with the photographer over this.
@beautifulthing@musicguy1982@hagscat@kjarn@terek55@hollandcrew@jasonbarnette@nicolekos thank you all for your comments and I would like to say (in case the person is a member of 365) that I just wanted to talk about this because my niece was not happy with them and this is a place to critique as well as compliment. Ok with that said what I found odd was all the things you all noticed the white skies that seemed to me to wash out her beautiful skintones the outfits not matching the location but even that could of been mended with hip poses and that about half of them seemed to be more about the landscape then the model.
I think they're in keeping with the gallery on her website - I didn't look at all of the senior gallery, but of the ones I checked out most of them are in this type of setting. I saw fields, empty roads, tractors, old trucks and some brick walls. I do actually like the photos, and am sorry your niece is disappointed. I think rather than bad photos, it's just the wrong style of photographer for her. As for the outfits not matching the setting - that's probably an error of communication. Most senior portrait photographers in my area do communicate, at least a little, about good choices of clothing for the shoot planned. Did this photographer fail to do that? As far as her skin tone looking washed out, that may be an issue that can be resolved. If she speaks to the photographer about it, I'm sure the color can be adjusted.
