One Year: What I Saw

January 3rd, 2012
So my friend Dana @danasfeast is probably going to be overwhelmed that I shared this with everyone, but I think this is a really great write up on completing a 365 Project and how we learn to look at the little things. She is a journalist and actually asked me to try this for a year. What is most impressive is that both of us are moving onto Year Two.

Well written and happy you shared with us! Even though I am near done with first year...I feel that I failed as sometimes I did not post or I did not post the pic I took that day. I am not sure I improved because I am still using auto. Having said all that...this is the best project and everyone feels like family! I love 365!!~!~ Paula, I truly loved your abstract challenge! My next goal - try to learn how to use all my fancy equipment!

@marytj Mary, my friend Dana lives in Alexandria and in the spring I want to do a photo field trip. Also the Y2 Challenge next week is Household Abstracts so get ready.

Excellent post! I wish I had done this project when my kids were younger. I am envious of those of you just starting with a young family and today's photo opportunities available to everyone. The age of digital images has made taking photos so much easier for everyone, young and old, and the editing options available make presenting those images more timely. There is a huge difference in seeing what you are photographing on demand and waiting for a week to see what's on your film. For those of you starting out with your projects, consider yourself fortunate to be able to capture moments that are so fleeting. :-)

@brumbe Thanks for sharing the post, Paula! It's also inspried me for Year 2. Last year I photographed so many still objects at home due to lack of time/inspiration so this year I want to focus more on the things that are actually happening around me.

The Y2 Challenge sounds great by the way... Is this something that's posted somewhere? Thanks.

@neontree I did, but if you send my your email address I can send you the spreadsheet of each weekly assignment which will push our comfort zone or get us to try those things on our list.

Thanks for sharing. Great artcile. It sums up so well how 365 changes your life(sounds a bit melodramatic, but I think it's actually true). I'm off to follow her :)

Thanks, Paula! You're the best. I started futzing about with Instagram yesterday and think I'll progress forward on there for the next year, just mix things up a bit. Of course, I'll continue to see all of your work here. Rock on!

Great that you give the heads up for the following week's theme. Really love the Household Abstrats idea!
