Canon Powershot G12

January 11th, 2012
I just ordered one. It's used but in relatively good condition from an ebay user. I am really excited to have something a little better than my SD1300.

If you have one, could you post pictures? I'll probably follow you to learn some tricks

I have one which I use when I don't want to lug my DSLR around with me. It tends to be quite often in winter!! Here are a few of my pics from my G12 (which I love by the way :))

@kiwichick Those are LOVELY. Did you process them at all?
January 11th, 2012
Only a bit, a little play in photoshop with the levels and colour curves and a small boost to the saturation in some of them.

I have a G10, which I mainly use underwater.
Not sure what they've changed in the meantime, but I've been very happy with it. Bought because I wanted a small travel camera that could shoot RAW.

I have a G9 and love it - shoots RAW and I can take it everywhere.

My shots are very eclectic. I had a Canon A640 with variable screen before and loved it so got the G12. Almost a year and 15 000 shots later, I'm still learning all the things I can do with it. ENJOY yours!

On this one, I used a macro accessory lens.

I'm thinking about buying my very first dslr, probably after I complete my 365, but I'll keep my G12 and will still using alot.

check out also @alia_801 : she has some stunning shots in her collection taken with the G12

Here's some random shots from my set

@kiwichick @alia_801 @woot @kbradbury @lilbudhha @carli2012 I have a question. If I just want to take pictures of me and my friends, which is the best setting? Obviously there's portrait. But is there something better? That makes people look more.... vivid, I guess?
January 17th, 2012
I generally just use the normal settings. There is a 'blink' mode which I've never tried, I guess it depends on the light, distance, colours etc as to what would work best... (not that I know the first thing about photographing people!)
January 17th, 2012
The modes on the dial are about aperture and shutter speed, not colour saturation. If I want to enhance the colours, I do that on the computer. Not sure if there is a setting for this on the camera.

There is a vivid colour setting I think but I usually shoot in manual so I'm not sure. I sometimes use other settings, have tried the fish eye, tilt shift, low light etc. Have a look at the manual (or look online for instructions) and just have a play. I'm still figuring mine out too. There are a lot of cool features (blink and smile mode for self portraits) that I haven't even tried yet. @alia_801 @lilbudhha

The vivid setting you get to by pressing 'Func Set', then selecting the second thing down the list (little paint tube), and the 'v' option. There's also neutral (the opposite), sepia, B&W,Positive (film-like - this might be what you want?), Lighter and darker skin tone, blue, green and red emphasis modes and a custom option. (I've only used V and G - the rest I do in the computer).

The SCN option on the top wheel gives you a few other options - I've never tried face select, but that might be useful?
