How to Create a 365 Project Google Map

February 7th, 2012
Last week I had an idea to create a Custom Google Map in which I would plot all my photos. I thought it would be a cool visual display of where I have taken photos. The only problem was I didn't know how to do this, but now I do! Here's step by step instructions on what I did:

1. Upload photos to Picasa Web Albums
2. Open another browser window to Google Maps and sign in to your Google account
3. Click Create Map
4. Enter a Title and Description
5. Add a place marker at the location you took your picture
6. Enter a Title and a Description (in Plain Text tab)
7. Go back to Picasa Web Album and click the picture to add
8. On the right side of the picture click Link to this Photo
9. Select size (I think Medium 400px works best)
10. Copy Embed Image text
11. Go back to Google Maps place marker and click Edit HTML tab
12. Paste copied text right before the last "" (it'll make sense when you see it)
13. Click OK and you're done
14. Repeat for next photo

Here's a sample of a cool Google Map created of Hawaii:

Let me know if it works or if you have any better ideas!
