Photo Books

February 8th, 2012
Now that I've completed my 365 project, I'd like to compile a photo book as a keepsake. I would like to incorporate the captions for each photo, and perhaps even some of the comments attached to them.

Any suggestions on Canadian sites to use (or sites that have reasonable shipping to Canada)? I have been browsing elephoto.ca and photoinpress.ca so far.

Has anyone gone the homemade scrapbook route?

There have been lots of threads done about this over the years but from memory Blurb seems to be the most popular company to go with.

I've used Shutterfly for portfolio-books, and they've turned out great. They do ship Int'l. http://www.shutterfly.com/

Mixbooks are high quality and very fast.

On the subject, I emailed the owner of this site, ross@365project.org, and asked about providing the option to users here to be able to upload one's photos and text from this site directly to a book printer. He said he is working on it, so you may want to contact him as that was over a half yr ago.

Regarding scrapbooking, it all depends upon your printer: if you have a good one for photos, then compare the cost of buying the ink or toner vs the cost of a book. For a large coffee table book, it tends to cost almost a dollar per page to have one printed for you, but sales are always available.

I'd say Blurb everytime. I design books for a living and have tried quite a few of them and have found that Blurb have the most variety when it comes to paper quality.
