INSPIRE ME

February 9th, 2012
I have no mojo today... They sky is grey, I'm sick of flowers, I'm stuck in the office at the moment and I am so uninspired...

I'd love some suggestions on what to shoot... I might just need a challenge to get me out of my funk!

Thank you

shoot a self portrait of yourself without showing your face.

office supply (perhaps staples) macro

Macro was my thought too. Keyboard keys?

I'm in the office today too...just got asked to photograph an ant infestation on level 6 of our building... got a good macro of one and but feel like its too icky to use as my 365 pic for today... maybe you could find something unusual in your office to shoot (that doesn't make your stomach turn!). Good luck!

Carli, I keep a list, for just this reason. I knew when I started this project that I'd be hitting periods of uninspired blues. So whenever I think of something interesting to photography around the house, or at the office, I add it to m list. Some ideas on my list are: close up of colored paperclips, doing an abstract of a macro'd piece of jewelry, writing a message on my computer and photographing the screen, just silly little things like that. I once even photographed the gum balls on my desk...!

Look into a drawer you've never looked into before. There must be something interesting in there. Make yourself a hot beverage and shoot it before you drink it. Take a fork and a spoon and make them fight. Put your feet in an unlikely place and take a photo. Write a note to yourself and shoot it while holding it with your hand/lips/toes/etc. Or someone else's hand/lips/toes/ etc. Small change. Pencil points. Door hinge. Window sill. Your stapler admiring itself in the mirror. Your ruler sizing up a donut. Your paperclip doing yoga. Finger on the DELETE or ESC key.

Hope some of that helps. 8D

well, I've got a lot of flower shots in my album and yes it can be very frustrating to shoot the same subject almost everyday.. but I guess, the challenge is to find the best angle that it makes the subject different.. :) But if it was me who is stuck in office... (1) I'd try a macro shot of a book focusing on a text that describes my day (2) A randomly piled set of paper clips with different colors (3) my lunch (4) A shot of what it looks outside using the window as my frame or (5) the mess on my table...

Let Macro be your friend - I like Mark's suggestions too.

I took a gray-sky shot today....sometimes you've just gotta roll with the thunder :)

When I am feeling like this I just go for a walk and start taking photos. Nothing in particular and at the end of it I find that I have taken some great shots and usually feel so much better

@carli2012 Shoot something upside down.
February 9th, 2012
@pocketmouse - interesting, would never have thought of that
@bkbinthecity - I just went for a quick one, still not inspired :(
@sdpace - your grey sky shot rocks it though, I have no awesome gargoyle to shoot
@doblaine @mikehamm @dhostick - this is looking likely
@shoot4art - I'm liking the book idea
@myautofocuslife - my coffee is looking boring but I like the feet idea :)
@scatochef - not a bad idea, will see what I can think of
@aleksandra - ewww but I'd give it a shot
@socalgal - I almost went and bought some gumballs :)

Thank you for your ideas so far, I'll try and shake it off and get snapping...

Nice and simple although I have to ask - is this a random page or are you thinking about a masochistic act with a mason using masking tape and masonite? Take photos :-)

you may need more weed in your life

@sbb1980
Sara, happy to help, would love to see what you create with them! I like your idea of the Sprite bubbles and will now add that one to my list, if you don't mind...! =:-D

@carli2012 That is a great shot of your book... great focus on the words... But just like @doblaine , i'll add the masquerade part for the masochistic act... :)
February 9th, 2012
@doblaine - Mason is my son's name - so the answer is NO! unfortunate placing in the dictionary I must say
February 10th, 2012
@carli2012 I hope you are pleased with the outcome?
Good pickup Mark - I should have said "at a masquerade". Anyway the outcome is a huge success and this has been a fun thread - thanks all.
