I think if you work the contrast on the B&W to get the sheet of paper a brighter white the B&W could work really well.

full colour, but the B&W would be better if the DOF was a little deeper so that the cookies were all in focus and maybe the blacks a little deeper too... IMO

Already voted color, but I guess I should say why. The color version, I focus in on the message. I guess my mind knows it's a fortune cookie without thinking about it. WIth the B&W version, it's not at all obvious what the grey blobs are, so it takes away from the impact of the message. That's my overthinking of it anyway
