Fujifilm FinePix HS20 16 MP

February 16th, 2012
Does anyone have this camera? I was looking on Amazon and they are super cheap.. And was wondering why they are so cheap so I went to youtube and looked at a review.. got some reasons why it's not a good camera and why it is.. Is it a decent camera for taking pictures of people? Also, has anyone bought anything from amazon.com? I'm a little nervous to by something from there and have something be wrong with a camera that I purchase.. Answers to any questions I just asked will help. Thanks in advance!

I have bought all of my camera gear form Amazon and have not had a problem. And the shipping is fast, i love Amazon! But on the camera, i have no idea? I have a Canon rebel T3 and love it as well! haha good luck! (:

I haven't used the camera, but I shop with Amazon a LOT and they are always awesome to me. I have never paid shipping, I have made returns & they paid for shipping back, full refund, and did not take away the discounts that had been applied to my purchases even though my total then fell under the required amount (I expected them to deduct my discount from my return).

What kind of pictures of people are you looking to take?
February 16th, 2012
@ribboncandy42 Thank you! I was very nervous about using them cause I have never purchased there before.

@echoia You don't have to pay shipping at all or you just don't have to pay shipping for a returned item? And I am looking to take family portraits, baby pictures, possibly senior and wedding portraits once I learn more.

I was looking at buying the same camera too so interested if anyone can advise on this.

@akamarballa What type of pictures are you looking to take with it Mandy-Jane? Are you looking to purchase off amazon too?

My local camera shop has one in the sale for £195, she did say it was the heaveiest of the bridge cameras they had so that put me off a little, I do a lot of wildlife & pets, and farm animals and also street photography but I'd maybe stick with the Point and shoot for that, if this one was heavy. I did find this, http://www.which.co.uk/technology/photography/reviews-ns/fujifilm-finepix-hs20/

@akamarballa What's making me nervous is the price because if it can take really good clear images of people then I definitely want it! But can I really get a dslr camera that will do that for that cheap! And thank you for the link! I'm watching the videos on the page right now.

@bitchin1589 I've never paid shipping at all with Amazon, I buy products sold directly from Amazon that say, 'Free super-saver shipping'. Amazon sells products from many other sellers, so if you buy from another seller read their feedback carefully.

The camera looks pretty cool, I wouldn't mind playing with it. It can shoot up to 11 frames per second at 8mp, which made me very jealous : ) it also shoots RAW (fun), BUT it takes AA batteries, which is a big bummer to me.
February 16th, 2012
@echoia Yup, I read that it takes AA, but I'm ok with that because I use rechargable batteries lol. And thanks for answering my question! I was unsure if you were saying that you didn't have to pay shipping for returns or just in general when you purchase something.
February 16th, 2012
see that is also a put off for me the batteries, oh btw shopped on Amazon all the time never had a problem
February 16th, 2012
@akamarballa Thank you! I'm so glad I have my fellow 365ers to ask my questions to since I know a lot of you have had many years of experience with purchasing cameras and using certain brands and models!

That's my camera and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
February 16th, 2012
BTW, this is my 3rd Finepix digital camera and my 5th Fuji camera in my life. I have loved all my Fuji cameras. In my HS20 I use the Lithium batteries and they last A VERY LONG time in my camera.
February 16th, 2012
@crickle1969 Do you use it to take your 365 pictures?!
February 16th, 2012
@bitchin1589 @akamarballa

I started my project with the Fuji FinePix S700 last January and used it from January through July, so if you want to see what it can do, you can visit my page and leaf back through the calendar to that time period (I'm now on year 2). It's pretty awesome for macro shots, which I really loved. Here are a few of my favorite family photos taken with it.

Hope that helps you both decide. I think it's a really good camera for the money, and I've ordered thousands of things from Amazon with no problem.

@bitchin1589 im using Fujifilm HS series HS10.. same feature except 10MP vs 16MP HS20EXR has bigger sensor.. with EXR technology with noise reduction and more quality image.. i like HS10 and HS20 beause of convneint battery.. HS10 and HS20 use AA batteries so if i dont have spare batteries and i need to change battery i just go to a store buy some Alkaline battery which can be use to have almost 300 shot in proper usage of the camera.. guys all of my photo was captured using HS10...

The heaviest bridgecam i know is Fujifilm S200EXR
by March of this year HS30 will be available in the market but it use Lion batteries..

Unfortunatly i bought this for my wife last year when it was £350, not worth anywhwere near that, the focus can take sges especially when on full zoom and trying to focus on a bird or the like, by the time it does focus, if it does at all the subject has gone. not happy with picture quality either. And why they dont have a rechargable battery pack i will never know. But this is just my opinion........... i dont rate it at all!! sorry.
February 16th, 2012
i work as photographer and the hs20exr is my back up camera and it is a great camera easy to use and great image quality
February 16th, 2012
like i said with proper use of HS20 you can produce a great image.. for the image quality you need to familiarize the camera to have it.. HS20 is like upgraded version of HS10 which i use.. i'm happy with my camera...i always use continous focusing in all my shot..i love my HS series..

here's my sample pic using HS10... SOOC + watermark only

I have the HS10 and for the most part love it. Though it has it's limits because it's not a DSLR but a good bridge camera. I chose it because I wasn't convenient enough to handle a DSLR but a point and shoot wasn't doing it. It is heavy but I really love the zoom being by hand like a DSLR. When I got the HS10 in Aug 2010 it was more expensive than the HS20 is now.
I will say though I though about buying mine on Amazon but I really wanted the support of a local camera shop (not chain). It was about $50-80 (can't remember) more at the local place but I was able to go in with all my operation questions, take classes with them, etc and then you are supporting the local economy. But besides that I wouldn't worry about not getting the product your paid for on Amazon.
February 16th, 2012
@regiehiguit I had no idea you used hs10. I always love looking at your photos!! thanks!

@hanky Your input is greatly appreciated!

@naturekt Thank you! I would buy from a local camera shop, but as far as I'm aware we don't have one lol.

@ctaphoto Thank you for answering!

I have had my HS20EXR for about 10 months now and I love it! I am still in the experimenting phase of photography so have so much to learn, but this camera is fantastic. All the photos on my 365 project were taken with the HS20EXR.
I did find it took me some time to familiarise with the camera, but once I had got the hang of it I never looked back!
