I am very new to photography and I have decided to enter a contest locally. I was wondering if the pictures that I enter should have my mark on them or keep the clean. Any opinions on this is appreciated.
I prefer the approach of less is more. If they were being sold than a subtle watermark in the lower corner would be completely appropriate. If you are being judged on the photo, why would you want something that would distract the judges eye.
I agree with those above. I don't think a watermark looks good especially for a contest. You can always place your name and other significant details on the back. Good luck!
I think if you are entering a comp, then it doesnt need a watermark. I add them to my shots as many of them are on stock photography sites, so I dont want them to be downloaded and shown on the web when some company has just bought the rights to them< i think its breach of contract or something, anyway good luck with the comp, after all of these replies I think alot of people would be keen to see if you win :)
UPDATE: Just learned that I won 1st place in the Teen category! I entered the picture that you see as my profile pic. SO excited! Thanks, everyone, for all of your input!
