Does anyone else find it annoying that you no longer get a proper paper manual with a new camera, or in fact most things now. I hate reading off the PC and don't really want to print off a 160+ page manual.. Just a quick moan lol
I know exactly what you mean! I got an online manual with my new phone and it's just not the same. I've never had an online manual with a new camera though, that would drive me crazy! The physical manuals make it so much easier to just flick through when you need to find something out.
@gurry Amen to that. I can save eleventy gazillion PDFs, books, manuals, etc. on a DVD that takes up less than half of the space of one paper manual. What's NOT to like??
@gurry Hahaha, me too, especially old books! :)
I suppose I'm sitting on the fence because I actually own a Kindle... my local bookstore closed down and the nearest one is an hour away. And it's great for travelling too!
I prefer the paper manual - carry it around with the camera for the first few months. Leaf through it, look up what I need to figure out. Quicker to find something specific than trying to find it on a phone (might have to try that though). The couple of times I've tried to look up something on a pdf version of a manual I've spent a lot longer trying to find it.
@akamarballa I totally agree, some manufacturers are better than others. Canon and Nikon are the worst. My G11 had a rubbish pdf. And that is not a cheap camera. I had to buy a book The magazine reviews should mention the documentation. The old G5 had a great instruction book.Hardly progress and puts me off buying Canon.
I prefer paper, although an electronic version can be useful too sometimes. But for the price of the cameras, I think we should be given the choice to have it on paper, at least upon request.
Yes mine is a Nikon, its a good idea on the iphone for those that have them it would be an ideal solution but I don't have one and I don't see the need for me anyway. I live in the sticks and its hard to get a signal anyway for a phone so
I just have and use my mobile in an emergency breakdown etc I never been one for using it more than just a phone.
1. Download PDF
2. Put it on iPhone.
Problem solved!
Seriously, guys. It's the future! ;)
