I know that there are lots of old discussions about apps for the iPhone but I am starting this one to look at what apps are you using consistently after having had your phone and apps for a while. Some apps are fun for the first few uses but start to get boring. Which is not to say that they are bad so much as they only do one thing - thinking Percolator, iDroste, Fotofitti as examples. Some apps have lots of features and flexibility that you go back to them often. I like to edit my Nikon shots on my phone so I very often use:
Snapseed
Iris
PhotoForge2
SwankoLab
Pixlromatic
One of the benefits of these apps is that they are not destructive so I can edit a large file and finish with a large file at or about the same resolution.
I also use Hipstamatic and have loved it from the start.
What are your must have apps? Have any of you tried the iPhoto iPhone app? I have read some of the reviews so far and it sounds like a solid app with lots of room to grow. But is it worth the $4.99? Share your thoughts (and a couple of photos if you like) here!
Both of these are Nikon shots that I processed using Snapseed. They are some of my most popular shots to date:
love hipstamatic, like you, always have. Currently obsessed with Snapseed, and have been trying out CP Pro which seems pretty good. Was put off by the reviews of iphoto app and certainly wouldn't shell out the price they're asking.
I agree, I love hipstamatic, and like Richard I'm obsessed with Snapseed - which I also bought the mac app version, so I can process with Snapseed on my computer. On my iPhone I do enjoy using BlurFX, which does what it says on the tin, and QuadPhoto, which is great to capture nights out with pals...takes 4 photos and is great fun
@rich57 Do you have a link for CP Pro? As for iPhoto, that was my feeling. Maybe if some more features are added in it would be worth it. I don't like the idea of having to manage albums and the photo library and the stream!
@sharonaddison You may also like IncrediBooth (same folks as Hipstamatic). You get to pick between booths (which also means camera and films used) and it produces four image strips. Plus you can save individual images from a strip.
@autumnseden thanks - I have heard of IncrediBooth, will check it out. @gavincci - also downloading too @manek43509 - like the sound of this, am downloading as well !
I have a billion camera apps but only ever use Hipstamatic and Instagram. I have Snapseed and have never used it. Every once in awhile I use Camera+ I guess you could say I'm more of a photo app hoarder than user!
Just started playing with Snapseed...we'll see. I process most of my photos in Lightroom, but with Snapseed I may spend some time processing in-camera.
Grungetastic turns out some pretty cool effects for something different.
I've been using Camera+ as my basic camera app, since the shutter speed is faster than the default iPhone camera, which is subject to lots of blur, especially in low light.
Maybe it's just that I'm at the age where I have varifocals, but I just can't see the tiny iPhone screen well enough to bother with editing on it. My iphone is also old - it's not a 4. I'm a Mac girl myself. But I might investigate getting Snapseed on my laptop.
@hmgphotos I have a ridiculous number of photography apps but I definitely have the smaller group that I use all the time. Any time I start to feel in a rut I open up other apps to play and find some inspiration.
@bradsworld Making a note of grungetastic. I only just got a laptop (my back is grateful since I can work wherever is comfortable now) along with CS5 and Lightroom. Good tip on the Camera+ and the shutter speed! =D
@lilbudhha I just downloaded that one a few days ago and it looks pretty solid. I have my website through SmugMug so I heard about it through them.
@gavincci Downloading now!

@joannapayne Snapseed offers some nice features!
