Post your spring bloomers here. Be sure to identify your location.
Yesterday"s wind and rain came in jealous hopes of cutting the Cherry Blossom season short in DC, but not the celebrations which will continue for weeks. I've been scanning through the past couple of days' photos to see what everyone else shot, but decided it might be quicker to start a post.
Feel free to pile on here even if your spring blossoms aren't cherry.
This cherry tree is in our front yard, (we live in Washigton state, about 17 miles North of Seattle). The pic was taken on Monday, the last day of winter...you can see some icy snow from the previous days dusting still clinging to the branches!
@swguevin haha, I don't even know... I found it over at the park close to my house, growing in the middle of nowhere like it's a wildflower, but I have no clue what it is. :P
@hehe1308 What an amazing garden you must have. Those are so lovely!
@tracynugent The POV with the gorgeous building peaking through your daffodils really makes this photo pop! Love it!

@kaustin Two beautiful examples. The first in bud stage is so very detailed and just anticipating them opening. The second is also a gorgeous photo!
@dipster What a strikingly beautiful orchid. Rare beauty.
@sharritta What did you use to process your dogwoods? Gorgeous! And the lighting in your tulips makes the photo mesmerizing! That last photo shows a real range in your series. Great job!
@jsw0109 This is such a great tribute photo. The colors are amazing. But it is symbolically perfect in how the young buds fade into soft colors and the end in blue skies.
@juletee I like the POV of the budded tulips in front of the open flowers. The little ladybug tucking itself in so sweet and the third shot beautifully delicate. Great series!
@swguevin After the winter blah it is so exciting to get out and take pictures of flowers and all things green! I don't know how to post comments when I post pictures here so I didn't include where I was. I live in Galena Illinois.
@juletee you can write your comments in before you paste your link or after, just be sure to hit return after your opening comments to get good spacing.
@swguevin Thanks Sheila! I increased the contrast and added vignette to the dogwoods. The tulips were light painting and I was really suprised that they turned out so well. Thanks again forthe kind words!
@ladydi53 Christmas cactus are such beautiful plants if you can get them to bloom. A second blooming season says you must be doing something right! Gorgeous photo!!
@sdpace You have such a great sense for composition and such diversity! Amazing collection of uniquely beautiful photos. Though #2 with the budded geranium is my favorite in this group of winners.
I took this one of the blooming weeping cherry tree outside my home in Oskaloosa, Iowa (USA). I'm actually using it (and another one taken at a different aperture) to teach a lesson on aperture to my photography club.
@swguevin Thanks, Sheila! These are all in my own garden except for the pear blossom tree, that's my neighbors. :) I love the geranium, too. It's my favorite flower.
@lauren1987 Love the Japanese maple trees. They have such delicate leaves. Your damaged flower shows how beautiful things can be even when they aren't perfect. Both great photos!
@chelseap92 Really pretty and great DOF. Love how that purple just pops throughout the photo!
@annaluceya So delicate and yet such a vivid color. Great combination!
@tlrogers Daffodils in the yard as such a beautiful sign of spring. Love the fence line and laundry hanging in the background. It gives is such a homey look.

@bmnorthernlight Wow! So very tiny and delicate. What a lovely photo!
@bmnorthernlight I missed your beautiful purple flowers on the first pass. I am so drawn to shades of purple and blues. These also look like some very delicate and tiny flowers. Beautiful photo.
@swguevin Thanks! I don't know if they're redbuds or not. I don't know much about plants, I just admire their colors! Thanks for starting this discussion.

It's the start of autumn down here, not spring at all, so here's one taken a while ago. One of my first experiments on fully manual settings.
