Has anyone visited Valley of fire? http://parks.nv.gov/vf.htm and if so what did you think? I'm thinking of a trip in a few months when it cools down a bit....

It's a cool place to visit (not temperature-wise unless you go in the winter).... I posted an image on 365 here earlier this year..

It's interesting is that here you are driving for miles north of Las Vegas, and all you see is dull mountains and dirt, then you see this sign that says Valley of Fire State Park. You take that road and drive for a few miles, then all of a sudden, BAM! you are in a valley with all this really red rock. It's a good place to explore and get some really cool images such as the one above.

The photos remind me of a spot we have here called, Garden of the Gods, lots of red-rock formations, etc. It's in Colorado.

I have been to Valley of Fire several years ago and really enjoyed it there. We stayed in one of the primitive campgrounds (by accident actually... we had paid for a nicer one) but it was quite a nice visit. Lots of cool rock formations to explore around and the stars at night were so amazing (since it's so far from everything)
