How exciting to have a go at what I may learn from using a film camera!...
My main question is the camera also came with a FD 75-200mm zoom lens as well as a 50mm lens...does anyone know if there is an adapter to use these older lenses on my newer DSLR EOS Canon t3i?
I have heard that a lot of people recommend playing around with old lenses and heck yeah I would love to be able to use that 200mm on my t3i as well on the older camera. Any one knowledgeable that can point me in the right direction?
@sdpace thank you! in the long term yes unfortunately I am beyond broke atm so it may be a while until I can process film but looking forward to the learning curve and how it helps me grow...I love love learning and I love the creation process
Old cameras can be so much fun! I left my old Cosina CT-1A SLR in it's bag, forgetting there was a roll of exposed b&w film in it. 10 years later (2009), after years of improper storage, I took it out because I was going to use the lenses with my brand new DSLR (Pentax K-m). Seeing the film still had some shots left, I brought it with me and finished it. The film was indeed damaged; only a couple of the original pictures survived; but the new exposures came out allright. Sort of. After developing, all the pictures were coloured a deep pinkish red. Cool effect. ;-)
The great thing about being a Pentax fan, is that I can use all of my old manual lenses with both of my new DLSRs. They use the same kind of mount. Amongst them an old Makinon Zoom 200mm with macro. Allthought it weights in at a couple of kilos...
Just a word of caution, though: Never use old adaptors/extensions or flashes with newer equipment. You risk damaging your modern gear.
@bankmann thats awesome! thanks for the advice on the risk of using old gear we were thinking we could use the old flash on the newer camera...not going too now! :)
Trevor, if you can, keep notes on the frames so when you get them developed you know what you did, right or wrong! And for what it's worth, most places will develop the prints straight to a cd or the internet, saving you from amassing a physical library of shots you'd rather not have, let alone keep!

It looks like they sell a macro extension tube also for not much more....
