Just for fun I clicked on picnik ** I got to picnik through my picasa's editing program..they have an icon which reads so I clicked on it ** it let me upload a picture. some of the editing tools are still working..there're no more frames but when I clicked on text it still works but you can't choose a different script anymore. I'm uploading a collage which I've just edited in picnik.
I tried it just for fun the day it closed, and it wouldn't do anything for me, except tell me it is closed. Have you tried PicMonkey? Almost identical, and it does a nice job. I think they will most likely expand to offer more selections.
@beautifulthing Hi. I have a program called Picasa. when I go into Picasa there is a icon aking if I want to edit in picnik..I click on that and bingo I'm in picnic..just did another picture..it still works.
I just tried myself - surprisingly, I have Picasa on my work computer - and it is indeed still there, after a fashion. It looks like it's tapping into the Google+ Creative Kit, but they just didn't rename the icons, etc., and those still say Picnik.
@brumbe I didn't mention that I went through picasa to get to picnik. in picasa you find an icon saying picnik and when you click on it picnik shows up..just to make 100% sure I tried it once again. it still works - so I goggled picnik and they of course informed me that they are closed.
Makes sence. Google bought Picnic and Picasa belongs to Google. Almost thought that this would be available in Picasa as it got only implemented to Picasa little before the close down. I use Picasa sometimes too...especially if I only make some basic processing like cropping but a lot of times it suddenly stops working.
I like Picmonkey a lot better and its way quicker for me.
@digitalrn Hi Rick. Sorry I forgot to say that I went to picnik through picasa. they have a picnik icon and when clicking on it you still get into picnik. some of their editing tools still work. just tried it again. for how long I don't know..and yes I tried ipiccy and like it. I guess I was just curious when I saw the picnik icon was still on picasa.
I prefer Pic Monkey much better - and you don't need to upload all your photos into picasa, and therefore google (that is what it appears to happen to me).
@sharonaddison Sharon I'm in my 3rd year and since I started out with picasa I'm so used to it but you're right all your pictures go into picasa..maybe once I got a better grips of PicMonkey I might just get rid of picasa.
@bruni try picmonkey again soon, I find it sooo easy....and there is so much in there - the only thing they don't have yet are collage, but coming soon. I love the effects you get - almost identical to picnik
I'm liking picmonkey but am having a little trouble with it. After I edit one picture, sometimes I'll try to edit another one but it won't load it for me. It's like its got hung up for some reason. Gets a little frustrating. Is anyone else having any trouble like that?
@bruni Did it make your pictures 'public' though. As that's how I understood it. It would still be there but you would be sharing them all? I did not realise you would still be able to access it tho via picasa. I have picasa too, so I will give this a go later, thanks for the tip! :)
