Film processing

May 7th, 2012
Due to the inspiration film shots I have seen on here I have brought myself a 1973 Yashica 35mm camera and am really looking forward to using it. I am old enough to remember a time before digital when film was it, so it is bringing back a memories.
So what I would like to know know is which film processing places you recommend.
I am in Western Australia and know there is a place in the city but I don't get down there very often so would prefer a place that I could send my film to, to get processed.
I will have a go at processing myself as my dad has the stuff but that is a little way off yet (now that will dust of the grey matter to high school media lol)

My new camera :)

I not sure about Australia, but here in Ontario Canada I worked at a small professional photo lab where we still did film processing. There are still a few places that do, however with the bigger use of Digital cameras a lot of places that still do film processing will just continue until them machines run down or running them gets to expensive. The place I worked at was only starting the machine up once a week. Larger box stores I believe don't anymore...however quality is poor there anyways. You may just have to call around or search the internet to see what is available in your area. Good Luck!

@batavia thanks April, I appreciate you answering. I have googled and found a few places but it is always good if you get that recommendation from someone who has used them. It is nice to have that reassurance.

Good on you, Lisa!! Obviously, I can't help you, but just wanted to give you that "pat on the back" for LEAPING outside the box and giving this a go!

That camera is HOT! Lucky you! I live in the middle of no where and there is a drug store that can do C-41 processing, still. That's reg color film. Around here we have to send out B/W. Check online...that's how I found these things out. Once you find out where to get your processing done, there will be no stopping you. ;-) Good luck!

Your probably find more places than you first thought, I live in the ass end of nowhere but still have a choice of 3 stores to use. And welcome to your new addiction, believe me it gets that way :)

Tag your photo's "film-lives" so we can find them, and Flickr 365 Film Club is here should you wish to join :)
