Any lens with EF or EF-S lens mount will fit your camera. So just make sure you are getting Canon EF or Canon EF-S lenses. If you are not buying a Canon lens, make sure it is compatible with Canon EF or Canon EF-S lens mount. Canon lenses are generally of quite good quality, but it doesn't mean they are always the best choice.
Canon 28-300 is good for zooming and practically anything. But, the cost is $2500. You might want to consider a cheaper option like 70-300mm ($350), which has the same zooming capability.
Brill, thanks for the reply... I'll start having a look about... I guess with second hand ones you never know if they're going to be 100 % good condition if buying from the Internet... But I'll have a look see what's out there :-)
Tamron and Sigma make great lenses for all the big makes.
28 -300 in 35mm would be a very good range.
Depends how much you need the zoom, I think I would go for a smaller range so as to get a better apperture value.
