These are two pictures of the North Devon coast, near Ilfracombe. Both have been processed with Instagram, and uploaded to the Instagram network.
However, one was taken with the built-in camera on my iPhone 4S and Instagrammed, while the other was taken with my Nikon D3000 dSLR, imported into Lightroom, and transferred to my iPhone in order to be Instagrammed.
Of course, one would expect the dSLR image to be significant better quality than the phone camera one. Right?
Quite simply, no I can't! I think I would guess the top one is from your Nikon, the bottom from your phone, but I don't really have any reason for that! :S
The most important thing is that both are great pictures of course! :D
I, too, would guess that the top is with your actual camera, while the bottom is from your iPhone. With that being said, though, I think that the filter you used on each photo plays a role in the look of the final image. I would be interested in seeing the two photos processed with the same filter.
In any other circumstance I would say the top is DSLR and the bottom one from a phone ~ However, as the question has been asked my gut instinct would be the bottom is from your DSLR and the top from the phone
I have no idea which is which- but I've been amazed at some of the shots from iPhones on here. The technology has really advanced so much! I'll take a wild guess though and say the top is the camera, the bottom the phone (but I won't be surprised if I'm wrong!!).
You don't mention if you shoot raw with your dslr or not but you have to export the raw image to jpg, at that point, both images are more or less on the same footing, there is no real qualitative difference between them and then running them both through Instagram, you're making them look even more alike. I have a Galaxy S2 running Android with an 8MP camera and it can do some great shots, my dslr is a Nikon D5000 that shoots 12MP. There is not too much difference between them but most of my 'serious' shooting is with the dslr simply because it's got the interchangeable lenses and it shoots in raw format.
I'm not disparaging camera phones in any way, I simply find the dslr is far more versatile while the smartphone is quick and handy
@manek43509@mgirard Have to agree with Michael I think both have had the life rung out and to me either could be from phone or DSLR, better test is to take the same image at the same time with the same lighting situations etc..

whilst they aren't still in the same league, they are capable of producing some excellent images.
