Looking for a new lens to play with and looking at a Nikon 105mm DC or Micro.
I like the idea of the Micro being able to be useful for both macro & portrait, but I am intrigued by the defocus control idea.
1. Anybody had any experience with the defocus control?
2. I have rather large 70-200 I dont use much (except for portraits), could the 105 possibly replace this?
You can use the macro for portraits, but it doesn't have the greatest bokeh. The 85mm 1.4 or 1.8 would be better.
I've never used the DC, but have read about it and seen sample images. Didn't really convince me if it was worth it, or just gimmicky. If you do nothing but professional portraits, and learn to use it, probably worth it.
@dell365 Hi there I use the 105mm macro alot so can speak with experience. It is in a class of its own no matter what you use it for. Its a prime lens and please feel free to take a look at the macro shots I have along with the couple of portaits I have on here as the detail it picks up is without question.
