@agavegirl13 I'm so glad you have started this topic. I am starting to teach a year 9 photography class in September and I am undecided as to wether or not I encourage my students to join up to the project or not.
As you have been a member for quite some time do you think its helpful to your photography? Would you encourage 12 boys to join up too or not? They will be under strict instructions to only upload their own work, and as Tracey @traceysday says be told to be careful with what info they give out.

This thread has 160 something views with only like 20 replies so a lot of people are looking. Maybe just the parent in me but this makes me nervous. I think it's great young kids are into photography, but hope your parents know and are followers on your albums or at least check in. And don't give out any personal info your captions or comments.
If my son was in to photography, I would let him on here. Under strict instructions not to give out information. I will not however let him on facebook. Just be careful not to give out any personal information.
I thinking of getting my daughter who is 11 to start it. Will make a great homeschooling subject for Art and nature study. I will make sure she follows you.
@michaelelliott I would say thats because of a particular couple of girls who have been 'trolling' the project just recently, I originally thought this thread would be by one of them. You've made a good point though, I'm thinking that I may need to set up the accounts if my students do join, and I will certainly inform the parents as to what is happening.
@lorraineb My teenage daughters both have projects. It has been a mostly wonderful experience! I too have an acct and keep an eye on their accts as well. We are almost done, but there was an incident where a man was posting nude selfies, which were more pornographic than art, and he admitted knowing that the majority of his followers were young girls. He actually was "courting" one of them, and this was not his first time dating a young girl from this site. Ross has taken action and he is no longer on the site. There are other incidences on this site in which a few people like to "stir the pot" and show bully-like behavior, and the language can get ugly. At 15, I feel these situations are "teaching moments" for me with my daughters. I have an 11 year old son but do not allow him on this site.
Like I said, 99.9% of our experience has been positive and my daughters have grown so much in their photography because of this site. The few things I mentioned are a big deal to me, and are a deal-breaker for my younger son to have a project. And I would not recommend it as a teacher unless it was carefully monitored by their parents. Just thought I would let you know of our experience.
@twinsplusone Thats just awful! Is no where safe any more? Its so difficult because I need the boys to view and share their work in a learning (and safe environment).
I wonder if theres another similar online group/project.
Thanks Sharon. : )
@lorraineb - I am a year 9 in a photography class and we weren't encouraged to do any photography outside of school apart from for coursework but I think most of us would love to share our photos somewhere where we can all see the photos and other people can comment on them and give us tips, not just our teacher. So yeah, I think you should recommend it to your class and encourage them to start:-)

I got a camera for my ninth birthday, and now live near my maga (grandma) and she is helping me learn to take pictures. I look for all kids on here and followed you all.
Thank you. this is going to be fun.
@tishyy101 hi! Welcome to 365! The only tips I have for you are to just experiment with your shots and take a look at other people's photos..... It can be really inspiring to see other people's shot and can give you lots of ideas for your own. :)
Hmmm... This topic actually makes me feel pretty old haha, but I'm nineTEEN so I consider I belong to this topic too ;)
I'm completely amazed by your work, guys. Your photos are beautiful! I got my own camera in December (finally!), but I started photographing when I was 12 years old with my dad's camera. I feel like I have a lack of inspiration at the moment so I'm trying to find some here :)
I think I first heard about 365 from you on ravelry :)
I am also @bug 's brother!
