Just a few more days...

June 30th, 2012
I am just a few photos away from completing my 365 project – and it’s only taken me sixteen months to do it! :-) This project has truly been life-changing for me. I know that sounds trite, but it really has. The pressure to create one photo a day that is worthy of being shared with the world has changed the way I view photography, and the way I view the world. I’ve gone from thinking of photography as simply a means of recording a specific moment in time (a birthday, the first day of school, Christmas Day of any particular year) to a letting it be a creative outlet, a reason to attempt to capture the beauty around me and share it with friends and family.

I particularly want to thank Sarah @svestdonley for turning me onto the 365project.org in the first place! In addition to Sarah, I’d also like to thank a few other 365 friends who I’ve always been able to count on to take moment of their time to comment on my images. It’s so very appreciated. So special thanks to @maggie2, @shagbark, @pamelaf, @amers79, @otprofsp, @girlie, @zuzana, @morrist, @timandelke, @wordpixman, @kynosmom, @pennymilner, @paulaag, @glendq, and @angievega.

Although after I finish my 365 project I don’t plan to continue uploading photos here, I will still be adding them to my photography page on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/cricket.hackmann.photography. Please be sure to “Like” the page, and leave comments and news there! And if you have your own photography page (facebook or otherwise) please feel free to post them below, so that we can check them out and stay in touch!

The other “life-changing” aspect of the 365 Project is that it has opened the door to a new, and completely unexpected, career for me. Last fall, after being encouraged by friends and family to make my photographs available for sale, I took the plunge and have made them available through Fine Art America, an online “print on demand” company. You can find me there at: http://cricket-hackmann.artistwebsites.com. In the eight months I’ve been there, I’ve had slow but steady success, and hope that as my marketing (and photography) skills improve, my sales will too. I’ve also committed to a couple of art/craft fairs this fall, and hope to do more throughout 2013.

Best of luck to you all – I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you through your photographs over the last sixteen months. Stay in touch!
