Okay I posted an earlier post and got some great feedback, but I don't hve the cash wad, for those amazing lenses that you all love so much :(
But I have saved up quite a bit and am needing help deciding please...
Please let me know what you know about these products...
Canon 70-300 IS
Sigma 70-300 IS equivalant can't tell if it does macro or not
Sigma 70-300 the one that has a macro option
Tamron 18-270 IS equivalant
I'm obviously wanting a zoom, would like the macro, and would be cool to have a slight wide...tell me what you think.
I'd stay away from the Tamron 18-270. I shot with my friend's really quick one day, and the quality was horrific. The lens had a horrible soft spot on the lower left hand corner, and the pictures were just not very sharp, and bad chromatic aberration (fancy word for the lens not being able to focus all the colors together). I was editing a batch of photos taken with my Nikkor 18-200 and then the Tamron lens, and couldn't figure out why the pictures got really bad for about 20 frames, and then good again, and then I remembered I used his POS lens.
I don't know much about Canon lenses, but my gut tells me you'd be best with the Canon lens if your budget allows it. I remember the only time I had an "offbrand" lens (a Tamron) I had it for about a week before I ditched it for the Nikkor variant. Save yourself the money and do it right the first time :)
I'm a big fan of sigma, but I would stay away from any of their lenses that aren't in their 'EX' line. The Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX is a great lens, but the 70-300mm f4-5.6 OS is not.
No problem Rebbecca! I know not everyone can afford the super good lenses, but sometimes the extra money is really worth it if you care a little bit about quality. :) There's no way I could recommend that Tamron lens to anyone, regardless of budget, after using it on my own camera.

Out of the 3 you listed, I'd go with the canon.
