Looking for Digital Camera. Recommendations? Advice?

Hi, just before I started 365 I had an unfortunate accident with my own digital camera and broke it. So I've been using my mother's camera, which is great and everything, but I'd like to have my own so I don't have to ask her permission to take it from the house...

So yeah I'm looking for a good quality digital camera. Nothing too...professional. Just a regular camera that takes video and pictures, safe for a teenager (so it won't die if I drop it...a few times) and affordable for one too :P

If anyone has any recommendations as far as even camera brands or certain types of cameras...it would really be helpful. I hate getting one and then realizing it takes bad video or the zoom isn't very good...stuff like that.

I reckon Canon generally do the best compacts, if that's what you're after. I use the Canon S90 and it's brilliant.

Yes, that's the type of camera I'm looking for.
I definitely considered getting a Canon. I hear a lot of good things.

You can't really go wrong with Sony or Samsung.

I can vouch for Canon's PoS cameras being pretty decent too.

I had a Sony before. It was good, but I wasn't totally in love with it.
