I have a canon powershot G12 which is obviously no DSLR. However, when I go back to school in the fall it is not something I want to carry around and parties necessarily.
So, tell me. What's a pretty good p&s to get? I currently have my mom's Nikon coolpix that I'm going to use until I find one. And I've had a canon powershot which was pretty darn good.
So stick with canon or go with olympus or sony or....?
If you're into partying and shiz, living the cool life and being down wit the crowd. Then forsake digital my friend, and buy lomo. The La Sardina is compact, film is cheap on ebay, and the party pictures will rule. Or maybe the Diana mini.
You could get either off ebay for about $50 and film for about $1 a roll off amazon, ebay or B&H http://www.lomography.com/photos/search/la%20sardina?page=2
@chewyteeth I definitely might get one of those but I'm looking for a small camera for everything, not just parties. I mentioned parties because that's when my camera is most inconvenient to have. Thanks though :)
110 camera then.
Or the best point and shoot on the market in my view is the Panasonic FS range, superb. Or anything by fuji.
The sardina is as small as any digital camera. Or an I-phone maybe.
@brittbritt Good call on the iphone :) How about a Samsung WB690, small and compact, good zoom, manual controls, nice schneider kreuznach lens, good price and takes an alrite photograph.......
the panasonic lumix line of p&s get consistently high reviews from both photographers and consumer review agencies. I have one of the early models, "only" 5 megapixels and I still love it! They have leica glass and the compact ultrazoom versions are just incredible. Takes both movies and stills, has image stabilization, stereo microphone, lots of control in camera while shooting...most of all...the pictures are just outstanding...crisp and clear and excellent color reproduction.
I have owned a Panasonic TZ 5 for many years and use it where the big camera is too bulky or too obvious. It is small enough to fit in a pocker (male) or purse (female). It has a great zoom range and many of the controls found in entry level DSLRs. Everything that Nina said @ymrdigitalphoto
@brittbritt The G12 is one fine camera, but a bit big for taking to college parties. Get one of the nicer Canon point and shoots from their ELPH series. They do quite well and are very slim and compact.
I have a Sony Cybershot that I use when I dont want to risk bringing my DSLR with me. Very happy with the photos from it and it has a good few options to play about with. What I was most impressed with was its quality in low light which is perfect for bringing to parties and stuuf.
I got mine last summer in America for around $80 (was refurbished by sony) and its better than most point and shoot cameras that we have about the house.
