I purchased the RX100 to compare it with my Canon S100. Both cameras are very similar in size and button layout. The larger sensor on the RX100 along with the F1.8 lens provides a speedy camera and the shutter is so quiet, it's easy to capture some great street shots. The RX100 is marginally thicker than the S100 but still pocketable. I've taken a few recent shots and I'm very impressed with this camera. Anyone else using a pocketable point-and-shoot? I'd love to hear others' impressions about the RX100.
I have had it for a week, I am very impressed. Definitely a class above any compact I've ever own in terms of image quality and low light performance (I owned S90 and Panasonic LX5). I didn't expect it to be so good.
The combination of a big sensor and f/1.8 in a small package sounds intriguing. I am still loving my LX3, it is a pleasure to use and I have taken DSLR quality images with it. The LX7 sounds like a winner, f/1.4 at the wide end and what is really impressive is f/2.3 at the long end of its Leica lens.
@anzere03 I agree. I'm delightfully surprised and wish it was at ad thinner, but it's an excellent take-anywhere camera. @soboy5, the Panasonics are nice but too big for what I need as provided by the RX100 or S100.
