Guess it depends what you wanna do, be, see, be seen, discover, earn......etc.
So if you wanna be a wedding photographer the process will be different than if you wanna be a war photographer. Maybe tumblr, flickr, wordpress, twitter, facebook. Maybe local papers, small competitions, bigger competitions. Maybe submit to magazines that feature similar work. Maybe contact more experienced photographers to see if they need an assistant. I guess the list is long and the pay is small.
