Google Images, The Way To Find Out What Something Is With A Photo.

August 29th, 2012
I found in Rio's rain forest in Brazil, some very unusual plants, took the pictures but didn't know the names of them. Some of you asked about them and I was told by my son who lives there, you can do a search on Google Images their names, with a little work by posting a picture of the plant or bush and some information. It might take a few tries, but it's a good way to find out anything with a picture that you've taken. This applies to anything, buildings, etc.

So if you go back to my project, I might have found out more about them for you. I hope this helps a lot of you who take pictures of interesting things and don't know what they are.

There's an app called Google Goggles that lets you take a photo of an object, then they run it through their image search to try and find a match. I've had trouble using it on "soft" objects like plants and animals, but you can give it a try.

@pschtyckque I'm still trying to find certain plants that I took pictures of and haven't found some of them. Do you know a better way to find these plants? They are so rare in the forest in the rain forest, my son didn't know the name of them. Any help would be appreciated, if their is a better way.

@pschtyckque Thanks Chris, I'll check it out. I did find one rare plant on the site I mentioned. You just have to click on more images or put another description and I found the one I was looking for. I hate to post pictures, others ask what it's called and I don't know.

That's pretty much the best way, unless you can find a botanist and send them the images. I'm sure the rainforest has some pretty obscure looking flora. Best of luck!
