Officially freaking out!!

So I contacted Little Angels about a job I saw on Craigslist a week ago or so and never got anything back. Today, out of the blue, a get a call for an interview/meeting...for tomorrow!

I am pretty confident about my photo skills, but she wants a resume'! I've only ever written one, once, and that was for food service management. Which is also most of my experience *sighs*. What am I supposed to write that will work in my favor? I have no college, and only two semesters HS photography. Guess I though it'd more of an over the phone or paper app process.

Thanks for letting me vent and any advice definitely appriciated!

Oh you're brilliant!! I've never applied for anything like this but if you can send a small portfolio of work then that would speak for itself.

Just a suggestion... If you dont have the educatiobal credential that you're comfortable with, focus on your photographic results.
You might want to focus on 3 or 4 of your photos, use them as the primary element in the resume, then write out the details of each shoot, the unique challenges you met with each, and how you overcame them. Include your role at each shoot, your contribution to the group, your role in the processing and management of each. Demonstrate your varsatility in various (uncontrolled) conditions.
Hope this helps.

I can't offer any advice or guidance at all - but good luck!! I was told to remember the three Cs which I think were calm, confident and Cadburys. (I may have substituted the last one for cheerful smile). Go Girl!! :)

@judithg What a sweet thing to say I don't think anyone has ever called me brilliant before.
@cameronknowlton I can try that too. I'm not sure what all she's going to say if she goes through my photos in front of me I don't know how she's doing that with the portfolio yet.

I know when I applied to volunteer with now I lay me down to sleep a few years ago, I was nowhere near ready. And their biggest critique when grading my photos was that I didn't have enough indoor or studio lighting experience. I hate taking pictures indoors just because of that reason, But I do have a few indoor shot I'm going to add and other things to make sure they do know that I understand lighting.

I have a friend who is a resume writer and she says that the traditional resume with goal, experience by each job, and education is not always the way to go in creative fields. She says it is okay to add color, change the format. Stick with a traditional font and one page and you should be good

- Name and contact info
- Summary - why are they looking at your resume for this job
- Core Qualifications - what you have to offer them in skills that were asked for in the job description
- Experience - this can be bullet pointed to show what you can and cannot do in photography (indoor, outdoor, children, photoshop, etc)
- photo experience then on jobs, internships and volunteer
-Education
-Photos if you play with the layout you can probably add 2 or 3 to the page. (such as a row along the bottom since you may not have loads of text)

btw, here are some samples and this is not where my friend works http://www.chapmanservices.com/Samples.php

@brumbe Thank Paula, I will take a look. I do like the outline you suggested here as well.

She asked for a portfolio but gave me no set number. How many is too many? There is no way I could narrow it down to 10 or 20. I want her to see I know lighting for sure, yet a lot of my best work is done outside with plants or rusty things as models.

pick ten that have a common theme they are interested in and make sure some are natural and then lit. Add another five that are different and show you can photo landscape and still life. Think about what you would want to see if you were hiring

I told her I had next to nothing of baby photos, let alone indoor people photos. She said show her whatever I wanted. I am bringing 2 I took of my reborn, and any of people that are truly decent. So hard to decide.

UPDATE:
Okay so I'm not 100 percent sure if she's willing to give me the position.... however she did say that my photography was beautiful and I told her that I can get the time I needed to work the hours by switching some hours over with Domino's. She told me to think about it for a day or so and make sure that working with new babies and creating memories for happy families would not get to me or bother me. Now that's a bit of a vague statement, obviously they may bother me. I told her I could not guarantee I might not have a bad day but that didn't mean I would let it show or let it affect my work. She has taken many fetal demise photographs and luckily has the understanding to let me think about it and make sure this is what I want.

Now that the ball is in my court, so to speak, this is a good sign yes?
