Updated Time Zones

September 14th, 2012
The other day I went into my settings and noticed that I was using the default time zone. After I updated to US Central time zone, the times on my photos changed. The spider web shot was taken at 7:59 am CST before I went to work. After I updated the time zone, it now shows the time as 1:59. Why would the times on the photos change?
Just curious.

On your profile you have to choose your time zone too.

To Tami's point, though, the date and time displayed for the photo should be the time in the EXIF regardless of time zone. The site should not be adjusting that based on profile settings.

For the last two months I've been having an issue where every photo I upload, no matter what is in the EXIF info, it shows up as being taken on the 1st of that month -- and the time rarely, if ever, is accurate to the true time I took the photo, and my time zone is set according to my own. Frustrating, because I usually depend on that info when I upload them, since I usually end up uploading a few at once.

@ronah, have you updated your firmware? http://www.dpreview.com/news/2011/8/26/panasoniclx5firmwareupdate

How do you like your Lumix? I'm considering getting a waterproof version for capturing when I'm in Maui next, so that I'll always have a camera with me, even if I'm planning on swimming/snorkelling that day.
